ABOUT COLLAGE

Collage has a deceptively casual feeling. I started a series of collage works while traveling because I didn’t have room to carry art supplies. I was in NYC in a rented apartment, sitting at a kitchen table watching the Kavanaugh nomination hearings on my iPhone. All I had with me was a pile of newspapers, some magazines. Collage very naturally responds to mass media. It can mysteriously arrange chaotic and unorganized thoughts into a whole that somehow makes sense—while not making sense. It has that kind of tension and ambiguity.
